Hi, I’m John!

I’m an engineer living in SF. I currently work at a Private Equity firm that’s leveraging AI for its portfolio companies. The PE firm acquired the startup I co-founded, which built consumer AI chatbots with over 3.3 million users.

Before this, I worked at a couple different startups:

  • PM internship at a 10-person education e-commerce startup (later acquired by NHN Education)
  • Backend Engineer at a 50-people consumer startup that competed with Ticketmaster via K-Pop (later acquired by Com2uS Group)
  • SWE intern at a 130-people SaaS company that built chat messaging as API (now Series C)
  • Backend Engineer at Robinhood in the Payments Platform team plumbing ACH and Debit Card transfers in and out of Robinhood (joined pre-IPO)

At Princeton, I initially majored in Philosophy before switching to CS. I was born and raised in South Korea until middle school, when I moved to the US. I did my military service in Paju, South Korea and Abu Dhabi, UAE.

This blog is a stream of consciousness than a well-formatted one-pager (sorry Bezos). Reach out if you’d like to chat about anything you like or dislike about what I write: john.sangwon.suh@gmail.com
